THE ENVIRONMENTAL CHARTER
The aim of Toulouse-Blagnac Airport´s Environmental Quality Charter is to ensure the airport´s continued development in order to meet economic needs, while at the same time addressing the concerns of local residents.
The product of dialogue between all parties

The environmental Charter, the result of three years work (from 1999 to 2001) which encouraged dialogue between all the parties concerned, aims to identify the steps which need to be implemented in order to guarantee full control of airport pollution:

  • Local authorities
  • Airport user representatives
  • Those working in the aviation industry (airlines, manufacturers, etc.)
  • Local residents associations
  • The airport administrator (Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry)
  • Government departments

It was approved in 2002 by the Consultative Commission on the Environment and was updated in 2003. Each year, Toulouse-Blagnac Airport reviews the progress of the various initiatives implemented.

The environmental Charter: a reference document

The environmental Charter was the response to a major concern: to control noise pollution and define the guidelines for sustainable development of airport activity, working in harmony with the partners concerned. The Charter sets out the commitments that all parties endeavour to meet.

As a key element of information transparency, the Charter outlines in detail the commitments made with regard to noise and environmental pollution, commitments which are divided into five major areas.

The Charter contains three main sections:

1. The Charter´s major concerns, the historical and economic data and regulations taken into account in drawing up the Charter and the working methods adopted by the parties involved.

2. All commitments and initiatives together with the timetable for their implementation.

3. Various information which may help in understanding the Charter: a glossary of technical terms and abbreviations, legislative texts for reference and a list of the members of the drafting committee.
